FAQs
1. What exactly does the Extra Fee Manager app do?
Extra Fee Manager helps you create custom checkout fees in Shopify — such as handling charges, packaging fees, or region-based surcharges.
You can set rules based on cart value, products, location, or customer type — all without coding.
2. Does the Extra Fees Manager app work with all Shopify themes and checkout systems?
Yes. The Extra Fee Manager app is fully compatible with all Shopify Online Store 2.0 themes and supports both Shopify Basic and Shopify Plus checkout flows.
It integrates seamlessly without requiring custom code or theme edits.
3. Will adding extra fees affect my existing discounts, shipping, or tax settings?
No. The app works independently of your discount codes, shipping rates, and tax rules.
All extra fees are calculated after discounts and before taxes — ensuring accuracy and compliance with Shopify’s checkout system.
4. Can I create multiple types of fees for different conditions?
Absolutely. You can set up multiple fee rules based on cart total, customer type, location, product collection, or payment method.
Each rule can have its own fee type (fixed or percentage) and apply automatically when conditions are met.
5. How will customers see these fees during checkout?
Fees appear as separate line items in both the cart and checkout summary, clearly labeled with the name you’ve defined (e.g., Packaging Fee or Service Charge).
This ensures full transparency and avoids confusion for customers.
6. Can I test or adjust fees before making them live?
Yes. You can create and save fees in inactive mode for testing.
Simply preview your checkout flow or use a draft order to verify that fees calculate correctly before enabling them for customers.
7. Do I need any technical knowledge to use it?
Not at all. The app is designed for non-technical Shopify merchants.
You can configure and manage every fee from a simple dashboard using dropdowns and checkboxes.
8. Can I schedule fees to activate or expire automatically?
Yes. Use the Schedule Activation feature to set start and end dates — perfect for holiday surcharges, limited-time packaging fees, or seasonal promotions.
9. How can I edit or remove a fee once it’s active?
From the Fee List page, simply click Edit to modify the settings or Disable to pause it temporarily.
You can also permanently delete a fee with one click if it’s no longer needed.
10. Is there a limit to how many rules or conditions I can create?
No limits! You can create unlimited fee rules and combine multiple conditions within each rule for maximum flexibility.
