How to Add Express Shipping Extra Fees in WooCommerce

Express delivery offers speed, but it comes at a cost. This use case shows you how to add a surcharge when customers select expedited shipping methods, keeping your margins protected.

Overview

Using the Extra Fees plugin, you can apply a flat fee to orders that use faster shipping methods like Express or Next-Day delivery. (Plugin Feature: Shipping Method Fees)

Business Impact Example: Many WooCommerce store owners charge a $10 fee per order for express shipping, helping them offset premium courier charges while offering customers faster delivery options.

Preconditions

• Extra Fees plugin is installed and activated.
• Shipping methods (including express) are set up in WooCommerce

Steps (Basic Flow)

1. Go to Dashboard > Extra Fees
2. Click Add New Fee
3. Name the fee: Express Shipping Surcharge
4. Set Fee Type to: Fixed
5. Enter Amount: $10

6. Under Conditions, choose Shipping Method , then select your express options

   

7. Click Save Fees

8. At checkout, the surcharge is automatically applied when customers select express shipping

   

Alternate Flow

• If a customer selects standard shipping, the fee is not applied.
