How to apply cart-specific quantity rules
With the Minimum and Maximum Quantity for WooCommerce plugin, you can enforce quantity limits based on specific conditions in a customer's cart. This allows you to tailor your rules to scenarios like applied coupons, chosen shipping methods, or even shipping zones. These cart-specific rules ensure your store maintains flexibility while encouraging desired customer behavior.
You can set cart-specific quantity rules based on the following conditions:
- Cart Coupon: Set minimum or maximum quantity limits for products depending on which coupons are applied to the cart. This can be useful for promotions where certain rules apply based on discounts.
- Shipping Method: Apply different quantity limits based on the shipping method selected by the customer, which can be useful for weight-sensitive or location-specific shipping methods (e.g., express delivery vs. standard shipping).
- Shipping Zone: Set quantity rules based on the shipping zones. For instance, certain restrictions may apply for international shipping versus local delivery.
Steps to Apply Cart-Specific Quantity Rules:
- Go to the "Manage Rules" page in the plugin settings and click the "Add New" button to create a new rule.
- In the "Configuration" section, set the rule status (Active/Inactive) and provide a rule name (e.g., "Shipping Method-Based Rule" or "Coupon-Based Min/Max Rule") to easily identify the rule later.
In the "Advanced Rules > Conditions" section, select the cart-specific conditions you want to apply.
In the "Advanced Rules > Action" section, configure the minimum and maximum quantity limits.
Once complete, save your changes.
Example Use Cases:
Coupon-Based Quantity Control: Suppose you offer a "FLAT20" coupon for orders with 3 or more items. You can create a cart-specific rule that enforces a minimum quantity of 3 items when the coupon is applied. If a customer applies the coupon with fewer items, the plugin will adjust the cart automatically to match the minimum requirement.
Shipping Method Restrictions: If your store offers different shipping methods like "Standard Shipping" and "Express Shipping," you can set specific quantity limits based on the selected method. For example, if "Express Shipping" requires at least 3 items in the cart, the plugin will adjust the quantity range automatically when the shipping method is selected.
Shipping Zone Restrictions: You can create a rule for customers in a specific shipping zone that limits their orders to a maximum of 10 items. This could be useful for international orders where shipping large quantities is cost-prohibitive. Once the shipping zone is detected in the cart, the plugin will restrict the quantity accordingly.
