How to Set the Result Layout and Export Quiz Results in WooCommerce
Product Recommendation Quiz for WooCommerce turns a short questionnaire into a filtered list of products that match a shopper's answers.
Two settings control that result list. Product List View sets the default layout — grid or list — and the Export button lets shoppers download the matched products as a PDF. Shoppers can also flip between grid and list themselves from a toolbar above the results.

- Fit the result list to your catalog — grid works for image-led products, list works when attributes and specs matter more.
- Give shoppers something to keep. The PDF survives a closed tab or a page reload.
- Reduce pre-sales back and forth, since a shopper can attach the PDF when they ask you a question.
How to set the layout and enable export
Step 1: Open the wizard settings
Go to Dotstore Plugins → Product Recommendation Quiz. In the wizard list, click the gear icon in the Action column for the wizard you want to change.
Step 2: Choose the default Product List View
Find the Product List View dropdown and pick the layout you want shoppers to see first.

Grid is available in the premium version. On the free version the dropdown is disabled and only List is offered.
Step 3: Save the setting
Click Save at the bottom of the settings page.
Step 4: Switch the layout from the front end
Once a shopper answers enough questions to produce results, a toolbar appears above the result list with a Grid and a List icon. Whichever the shopper picks is kept as they page through results or change answers.
The toolbar only shows when at least one product matched, so an empty result set stays clean.
Step 5: Export the results as a PDF
In the same toolbar, the shopper chooses a scope and clicks Export:
- Top 10 products — the first 10 matches.
- All products — every product that matched the current answers.
While the file is being built, the button reads Exporting…. The download then starts on its own, with a filename built from the wizard name, the scope, and the date — for example gift-finder-top-10-2026-09-14.pdf .
Step 6: Check the downloaded file
Open the PDF and confirm it looks right. The header carries your site name, the wizard title, the scope, and the generation date. Each product below it keeps the image, title, attributes, short description, price, and a link back to the product page.
Example Use Cases
Gift finder with a wide result set. Set Grid as the default so more gift ideas fit on screen, and point shoppers at All products when they want the full matched list in one file.
Quote-style selling. For a made-to-order catalog, ask shoppers to export Top 10 products and send it back with their question. Your team then knows exactly which products they were looking at.

1. Where is the layout setting?
Under Dotstore Plugins → Product Recommendation Quiz, open the wizard with the gear icon, then set Product List View. It is per wizard, so different quizzes can use different layouts.
2. Does "All products" export my whole catalog?
No. It exports every product that matched the shopper's current answers, including any price range they set. It does not include products the quiz filtered out.
3. What do the + and – marks mean in the PDF?
A + marks an attribute that matched the shopper's answers, and a – marks one that did not. This mirrors the highlighting used on the front-end result cards.
