How to Use AI Suggested Fee in WooCommerce

Extra Fee For WooCommerce lets you add custom fees to orders based on cart value, shipping method, payment method, and more. The AI Suggested Fee feature (available in the PRO plan) analyzes your store data and generates ready-to-use fee suggestions, so you don't have to build fee rules from scratch.

For example, if your store gets a lot of low-value orders, AI Suggested Fee might recommend a small order handling fee, along with an estimate of the extra revenue it could have generated over the last 3 months.

Benefits

Using AI Suggested Fee can help:

  • Find fee opportunities you might not have thought of, based on your actual order data
  • Save time by skipping manual fee setup for common scenarios
  • See the potential revenue impact before you commit to a fee

How to Use AI Suggested Fee

Step 1: Enable the AI Plugin

Go to Settings → AI and turn on Enable AI. This powers the AI features used across your site, including AI Suggested Fee.

Step 2: Connect an AI Provider

Step 6: Publish Your Fees

Fees added from suggestions are created as drafts by default. Go back to Manage Fees, open each fee to review its settings, then toggle its Status on to publish it. Fees added via AI carry an ✨ AI Suggested tag in the list, which you can remove at any time.

Example Use Cases

Catching missed revenue on small orders: If a lot of your orders fall below your average order value, a store-based suggestion for a small order handling fee can help recover the cost of processing them.

Testing fee ideas without manual research: If you're not sure what fees make sense for your store, review the AI suggestions and their revenue estimates before deciding what to publish.

Rolling out fees quickly: If you've reviewed the suggestions and are comfortable with all of them, use Add All to create every fee as a draft in one click, then publish the ones you want.

Conclusion

AI Suggested Fee analyzes your store data to recommend fees worth adding, along with an estimate of the revenue they could have brought in. You stay in control — every suggestion starts as a draft, so nothing goes live until you review and publish it.

FAQs

1. Where do I find AI Suggested Fee?

Go to Extra Fee For WooCommerce → Manage Fees and click the ✨ AI Suggested Fee button next to Add New.

2. Do I need to connect more than one AI provider?

No. You only need Settings → AI enabled and one provider (Anthropic, Google, or OpenAI) connected under Settings → Connectors.

3. What happens if I don't review a suggested fee right away?

Nothing goes live automatically. Fees you add from suggestions stay in draft status until you manually turn on their Status toggle.

4. Can I remove the AI Suggested tag from a fee?

Yes. Click the X on the ✨ AI Suggested tag next to the fee title in the Manage Fees list.

5. AI Suggested Fee Not Working? Here's How to Fix It

Troubleshooting guide for the most common blocker — AI toggle off, no provider connected, invalid/expired API key, or provider quota errors. Customers usually hit the button, get nothing, and don't know why.

6. How to Connect Anthropic, Google, or OpenAI to Your Store

Deeper technical walkthrough than a single step in the main doc — where to get an API key from each provider, what it costs, and which provider to pick if they're unsure. This is a very common "I don't have an API key" support question.

7. Why Are My AI Suggested Fees in Draft Status?

Short, targeted doc explaining the draft-by-default behavior, why it's intentional (safety/review), and exactly how to publish one vs. bulk-publish several. Customers often think the feature "didn't work" when fees don't appear live.

8. Understanding the Revenue Estimate on AI Suggested Fees

Explains how the 3-month extra revenue estimate is calculated (what data it pulls from, what it doesn't account for — e.g. future order volume changes, refunds). Prevents disputes/confusion over "why didn't I actually make that much."

9. AI Suggested Fee vs. Manually Creating a Fee: Which Should You Use?

Comparison/decision doc for customers unsure whether to use AI suggestions or the regular Add New flow — good for new PRO users evaluating the feature, and doubles as a soft upsell piece.
