I Blocked a Customer’s First or Last Name, but They Can Still Place an Order

If you have added a customer’s first name or last name to the blacklist but they can still complete checkout, the Blocking Trigger Stage may not be enabled.

The Fraud Prevention for WooCommerce plugin only applies the blacklist rule at the checkout stage selected in the plugin settings.

How to fix it

  1. Go to Dotstore > Fraud Prevention.
  2. Open Blacklist Settings.
  3. Find the Blocking Trigger Stage option.
  4. Select the Place Order checkbox.
  5. Save the settings.

Once the Place Order option is enabled, the plugin will check the customer’s first and last name when they submit the order.

Basic configuration

Also check the blacklist value

Make sure the blocked name is entered correctly in the relevant field.

For example:

  • Add blocked first names to the Blocked First Names field.
  • Add blocked last names to the Blocked Last Names field.
  • Check for spelling differences or extra spaces.
  • Test the rule using the same billing name at checkout.

Why this happens

Adding a name to the blacklist defines what should be blocked. However, the Blocking Trigger Stage controls when the plugin should run that check.

Without selecting Place Order, the customer may still be able to submit the WooCommerce order.
