How to Show WooCommerce Product Categories and Other Taxonomies in the “Add to Menu” Popup

Sometimes, you may open the Add to Menu popup in Advanced Menu Manager and notice that options like WooCommerce Product Categories, Product Tags, or other custom taxonomies are missing.

This is not a bug.

These items are shown in our menu editor only if they are enabled in WordPress’s default Menus screen “Screen Options.”

So you just need to turn them on once.

When you need this

Use this guide if you cannot find:

  • Product categories
  • Product tags
  • Post categories / tags
  • Any custom taxonomy added by your theme or a plugin

inside the Add to Menu pop-up.

Step 1: Open the default WordPress Menus screen

  1. Go to your WordPress admin dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Appearance → Menus.
Appearance → Menus location in WordPress admin

Step 2: Open “Screen Options”

  1. On the Menus page, look at the top-right corner.
  2. Click Screen Options.

You will see a list of checkboxes.

Step 3: Enable the missing items

In Screen Options, tick the options you want to manage in the menu, such as:

  • ✅ Product categories
  • ✅ Product tags
  • ✅ Categories
  • ✅ Tags
  • ✅ Any other custom taxonomy (if available)

Once enabled, WordPress will allow these items to appear in menu builders.

Step 4: Go back to Advance Menu Manager and refresh

  1. Return to your Advance Menu Manager menu screen.
  2. Open the Add to Menu pop-up again.
  3. If you still don’t see them, do a quick page refresh and try again.

Now you should see WooCommerce Product Categories and other enabled taxonomies.

Quick Tip

You only need to enable these once per admin user.

If another admin user logs in and can’t see the taxonomy, they should repeat the same steps.
