How to block a specific zone or area

Blocking high-risk or non-serviceable areas helps store owners reduce fraud, minimize shipping issues, and save operational costs.

WooCommerce with the Fraud Prevention plugin allows you to block specific zones or areas during checkout.

Order from this zone have been blocked

With this feature, you can:

  • Prevent customers from placing orders if they are in restricted zones. (Plugin feature: Zone Validation)
  • Stop fraud attempts from risky regions or areas you cannot deliver to.
  • Display clear error messages at checkout to inform buyers why the order cannot proceed.

Zone/Area refers to WooCommerce’s built-in shipping zones, which are based on countries, states, and postcodes.

Alternate Flows

  • Instead of fully blocking, you can flag orders for manual review if they come from restricted zones.
  • Combine area blocking with other rules like payment method restrictions or order value limits for stricter fraud control.

Business Benefits

  • Eliminates fraud-prone orders from risky locations.
  • Saves shipping costs in areas where delivery is not possible.
  • Protects business reputation by avoiding failed deliveries.

Expected Outcome

  • If a customer tries to place an order from a blocked zone or area:
    • At checkout, they will see an error message:

“Orders from your location are not accepted.”

    • The order will not be processed.
  • Store owners gain peace of mind knowing high-risk areas are fully restricted.
